History
The group was brought this investigation by one of our new members, Jill, who had a family friend who had some land that he thought was "active." The land was located five miles from Minnesota Lake, MN, and quite rich in history.
It was originally a tribal land for the Native Americans. The back lawn used to be an area that was used by the Native American inhabitants as a small village. After this, the land held a horse and carriage trail that stretched for a few miles and was a main road in the 1800s. This trail is still intact today and visible by the ruts left behind by the 'heavy traffic.' This road was also believed to be used by the soldiers of the Civil War as a route home from their base camps.
The house was built in the early 1900s. It was inhabited by a small family and then the son of the original home builder. He had stayed their most of his life until he left for care in a retirement home where he currently resides today.
The current tenant of this land was asked by the elderly man if he had seen the soldiers coming home. When the current resident inquired about this, he was only given the response, "You will see them. Just keep your eyes open." The current resident has not had an eyewitness account with these soldiers but has reported having his infrared security system tripped around 1 AM to 2 AM. These alarm systems have been tested out by the company that installed them and no natural or technical fault has been found.
The land also holds an old cemetery plot on it. These markers of the deceased are spread out in thick vegetation and could easily be forgotten about if something was to happen to the current owner. The cemetery plots are hard to manage to due to the brush.
Investigation
The team arrived at the private residence at 7:30 PM after a half an hour trip from Mankato East High School. Upon arrival, the group met with the current owner and took a brief tour of the location. The first spot that the team was to check out was the cemetery plots on the land.
The team was to investigate the cause of the below photographs. These were taken on a pre-investigation meeting between Jill and the current owners. These photos were not taken by Jill but rather by another person who was with the owners that day.
Too good to be true right? Yeah that's what we were thinking too but these images did spark our interest so we decided to check it out. The mysterious face looks like a Halloween mask or photo shop image while the mysterious body looked like someone back in the woods even though no one was back there. What is very interesting about the body shot is that the feet appear to sink into the ground. The face was very creepy as you can see blood dripping out of the nose and the darkened eyes as well as the hair going down the forehead. Could we explain them?
The group split up into two group as we had seven people on crew that night. Once we got the tour, a group stayed in the cemetery plot and tried to duplicate the images above. That group consisted of Lori, Jim, and Nancy. The second group headed off to hear more about the Pioneer Trail that the horse and buggies used to travel upon. That group consisted of Adam, Monica, Jill, Garrett, and the property owner.
The owner took the second group on the tour of the trail and showed us off the area that he mowed. The group spotted something moving ahead. Garrett and Adam decided to check it out as it was just getting dark and hard to see. As they approached it, they noticed it was a deer but in the process of doing so, they ended up in a pathway that bent to the left a bit. Adam noticed he felt a bit strange as if he was cold and the hairs on his neck went up. Trailing up the path was the property owner and Jill. It was when they reached Adam and Garrett that the owner had mentioned that this bend always gave him the "heeby jeebies" whenever he mowed it. He felt as if he was being watched from the woods that were to the left.
The map below shows a general depiction of the area. The green would be the mowed areas, the pink line represents the start of the wagon trail, and the black shows the wooded areas. The yellow patch is the bend where the "heebie jeebie" feelings were noted. The arrow shows the direction from the homestead to the pioneer trail. The open area of the pioneer trail is what was described to be the main area for the Native American village.
Adam had noted that he had seen a small child with black hair running near the beginning of the pioneer trail. There was tall grass that was approximately 4 feet tall near the start of the trail where he noticed a male figure with dark hair that seemed to be crouching and moving away from the pioneer trail's start.
Could this have been the spirit of one of the Native Americans who used to live on this land?
The group walked the pioneer trail and got familiar with the area. After this, they radioed for the other group who was still at the cemetery plot to join them. The group reunited and started investigating the area around the pioneer trail as it was already proving to be active.
The smaller group that was at the cemetery plot started in the area near the arrow on the map above. The larger group investigated around the start of the pioneer trail. While doing so, Adam had picked up on the feelings of a male presence. He felt like something was in the woods watching them and once he looked into the wooded area, he noticed what appeared to be a shadow figure pacing between two trees. This was also witnessed by Garrett. Some group members took photographs in the general direction and a few orbs were caught. Jim and Adam hiked up the small incline in the wooded area to find out if it was brush or something else moving up there to cause what the group was seeing but no natural explanation was found. Nancy reported seeing what she said was a "tall Indian figure in a tree" while Jim and Adam were in the woods investigating.
Needless to say, the group was pretty tired and overall spooked by this outing. They decided to wrap it up by 11:30 PM and follow up the investigation with a post investigation meeting at a local diner so they could all wind down from the night's excitement.
Any cold spots or sensations?
Cold spots and a tingling sensation was noted by Adam in the bend on the mowed area. (noted on the map above by the yellow area.) Some members did note the feeling of being watched as well as Nancy seeing "the Indian man in the tree." Nothing noted in the cemetery region.
Observations and Conclusions
The group could not replicate or explain the photographs that brought us to this site. It is hard to tell if they are authentic as they present equal data for both sides of the argument. The team once again caught a lot of orbs floating around as well as dust and bugs from the environment. It is hard to discern the two from one another in this case but we tried to show the difference with the animated files that start off our photographic gallery.
The place is definitely active and unique. The area is rich in history and this was to be a training ground for Jill and Lori as they ventured out ont their first outdoor investigation with the crew. We do thank the property owner for showing us around as well as allowing us to conduct the investigation on the land. It was a unique feeling to have shared almost original ground with those who served in the Civil War as well as those Native Americans who used to live in the area.
The area is most definitely active and we would enjoy going back to this location any time we are invited.
